OMICRON: Walk-in covid booster jabs are available in Bury – but people are still being encouraged to book when they can

WALK-IN Covid booster vaccinations are now offered in Bury’s four vaccination clinics.

However, health chiefs urge residents to book a slot whenever possible to avoid waiting in line and to guarantee they will be stung.

The clinics are Ramsbottom Civic Hall, Elizabethan Suite in Bury, Radcliffe United Reformed Church and Prestwich Walk-in Center.

There are also seven pharmacies in Bury, the clinic at Fairfield Hospital and the mass vaccination center at Etihad, all of which can be booked through the national booking service.

Lesley Jones, director of public health at Bury, said, “Our vaccination clinics have done an amazing job and have given booster doses to around 60,000 local people.

“Now that anyone over 18 can get a booster vaccination, they will be busier than ever with the government’s goal of offering a booster vaccination to every adult by December 31st. That means we’ll be vaccinating tens of thousands over the next 14 days.

“In order to meet this great challenge, we are expanding our arrangements. We are building more clinics and are striving for longer opening times and openings on public holidays and weekends.

“I urge everyone to get their booster vaccine immediately – after three months have passed since their second dose – given the huge increase in cases of the new variant of Omicron, to protect them and their loved ones.

“And please watch out for less mobile friends and neighbors and, if you can, help them get to their vaccination appointments by transport.”

The vaccination details are as follows:
