Man arrested in Bury city center after raping a woman

A man was arrested after a woman was raped in downtown Bury.

According to police, the victim was attacked on Silver Street in the early hours of Sunday morning (July 11th).

Officials were at the scene around 3:35 a.m. and have since arrested a man in his twenties on suspicion of rape.

He has now been released as part of an investigation.

Several police vehicles remained on site throughout Sunday.

Pictures showed a cordoned off back street at the intersection with Broad Street.

A spokesman for the Greater Manchester Police Department said: “The officers received a report of a rape early that morning on Silver Street, Bury, at around 3:35 am on Sunday, July 11th.

“A man in his twenties was arrested on suspicion of rape.

“He has now been released as part of an investigation and the investigation is ongoing.”
