Cooking demonstrations by adult education teachers promoting healthy eating at Bury Market

A SERIES of cooking demonstrations will be held at Bury Market to promote the new Bury Adult Learning Service course guide.

The demonstrations, which will take place on Friday, August 6th, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on the Othello parking spaces (right in front of the fish and meat hall), will also advertise the fresh products in the market.

Sue Scott, Curriculum Quality Leader for Work and Wellbeing at Bury Adult Learning Service, said, “We offer a range of cooking classes at the Bury Adult Learning Center, including” Eat Up Your Mood “and” Bake Yourself Happy “which Our Wellbeing program includes What’s Cooking, which is part of our Family Learning program, and Food Preparation and Cooking Skills and Introduction to a Healthier Lifestyle, which is part of our Foundation Learning program.

“Sarah Turnock is our very creative cooking teacher and will share her skills at the demo.”

Sue said she hopes to highlight the products available in the market and promote healthier eating.

She added, “The Bury Adult Learning Service is keen to work with its partners in the Bury Food Partnership Group, including Bury Market, to address some of the actions in the Bury Food Strategy Action Plan, such as poverty and diet-related diseases.

“Bury Market has a huge variety of stalls selling great products and we want to encourage this in our cooking classes so that our learners can make informed decisions about where to buy their ingredients as they recreate the dishes they have learned in class . ”
