Colburn students bury time capsules with focus on Covid-19

CHILDREN at Colburn Community Primary School become part of history by burying their own time capsule with items reflecting their lives during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The children were given homework to decide which things they thought would help future generations learn more about life in school in 2020 and 2021.

Fourth grade student Zack said, “Our time capsule will tell people about the coronavirus and what a difficult time it was for kids. Who knows, maybe in 100 years it will even end up in a museum. ”

The capsule contains newspaper articles about the national lockdowns, pictures of children completing distance education, letters explaining school life during the pandemic, photos of children in their bladder groups, a Colburn CP school face mask and a lateral flow test kit.

School principal Jane Knowlson said, “The time capsule project has given our children an opportunity to reflect on the significant and unique challenges they have faced.”
