Woman admitted to hospital in Bury after “severe collision”

A main road through Radcliffe, Bury, was closed in both directions this afternoon (June 11th) after a “serious collision”.

The A665 Pilkington Way has been closed at the junction with Stand Lane.

The public is advised to avoid the area and motorists should make alternative travel arrangements.

Greater Manchester Police officers are present.

There is currently traffic in the area.

“The A665 Pilkington Way is currently closed at the junction with Stand Lane in Radcliffe,” said Transport for Greater Manchester.

“This is due to a severe collision.

“Please find an alternative route.”

According to the Inrix traffic service, the road was closed from around 2:55 p.m.

A GMP spokesman said:

“Officers came and found that a car had collided with a woman in her early 70s. The driver stopped at the scene and worked with the officers.

“Your injuries are serious but not life threatening. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.

“There were no arrests.

“The investigation into the cause of the collision is ongoing.”
