Suffolk is ready for a packed weekend with all sorts of great events from a circus to family outings.

The county will also host some great markets and theaters.

Something for the little ones

This weekend a family circus is taking place in Mildenhall with many free dates.

Circus Cortex runs in the Barton Mills trunk at various times from Thursday 8 July to Sunday 11 July.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds is hosting an insect event for beginners on Sunday at RSPB Minsmere, Westleton, Saxmundham.

You will be guided through a day of seeing butterflies, dragonflies, bees, and more. For more information, go to eventbrite.co.uk and search for ‘RSPB Minsmere’.

On Saturday and Sunday at 3:00 p.m. there will be a gun dance in the West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village, preceded by a conversation about the origins at 2:00 p.m. Activities include corn milling, storytelling, weaving, runes, and leech art.

A retelling of the jungle book will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Outdoor Theater in Alton Water.

Filled with original music, audience interaction and the chance to meet Mowgli, Baloo the Bear and Bagheera, some cheeky monkeys and the ferocious tiger Shere Khan.

Travel back in time to Southwold as the war broke out and the author’s father George Orwell is dying

Red Skies revolves around a fictional meeting between two of Suffolk’s most famous residents: George Orwell, who got his name from the Ipswich River, and Arthur Ransome, who lived on it.

This comical, clever, and sometimes deeply personal new piece explores the facade of two famous authors to uncover the secrets that both inspired and haunted them.
